PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY
Children are easily distracted.  Late arrivals quickly become the focus of their attention.
Arrive early to: visit the bathroom, chat, and choose a seat

CELL PHONES and other devices
Turn them off or set to vibrate.  No devices should ring during programs.

FOOD    DRINKS    TOYS
Please do not bring food or drink.
Put away all toys, books, and other items.  It is difficult for children to stay focused when distracted by such items.

RELAX!
For many children, this is their first group experience.
It is not expected that your child will participate in every activity.
Our goal is to create positive interactions with reading and the library.
Many children need time to observe and listen BEFORE joining in.

STEP OUT and REGROUP
If your child is crying, restless, or having "one of those days," just STEP OUT and REGROUP, you won't offend.
If your child is unable to rejoin, pick out books together and return when they are ready.

MAKE TIME EACH DAY FOR BOOKS
The program doesn't end when you go home.
Make sharing books part of every day.  Fifteen minutes a day is all it takes to grow a reader!
